| We, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, work to meet
the needs of the Catholic Community in our area; which includes
reaching out and sharing our resources with all those in need.
We have established goals and recognized the needs of the Parish
and will continue to make all aware of these, especially when
calling on individuals to utilized their special talents. |

HISTORY |

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish is located in Nucla, and
serves the west end of the Montrose and San Miguel Counties, including the
communities of Nucla, Naturita, Bedrock, Paradox, Redvale and Norwood. The
church has a congregation of fifty registered families.
Our Lady of Sorrows Church was built in the late 1800s
in Ouray. The building was moved in sections over Dallas Divide and through San
Miguel Canyon, up the main street of Nucla to its present location in the
mid-1900s. Although it has been remodeled and added on to, the original building
remains and functions as the main sanctuary.
