San Pedro y San Pablo Church History

Built in 1854, the church was dedicated to the two Apostles, Peter and Paul.  It was built to accommodate parishioners from the area southeast of San Luis, in the village of San Pedro and San Pablo, which are located north and south of Culebra Creek respectively.
The church burned twice, which was a common occurrence in buildings that were heated with wood and coal.  The present church was built in the 1930's, after the second fire.
There are two events that the parish has continued to celebrate:  the Conversion of St. Paul, and the Feast of San Pedro.
