Our mission...
We, the cluster of Our Lady of the Assumption, St. Mary and St. Patrick Catholic Parishes are striving for spiritual unity as a family of God.  We accept the challenge to reflect on and spread the word of God through communication, caring, cooperation and sharing of Christian values for generation to generation.  Together, we will learn to live, laugh and love in order to build the Kingdom of God.

HISTORY

The Jesuit Fathers of Mt. Carmel Parish, under the direction of Fr. Charles Murray, acquired the old Lutheran Church at 917 E. Evans Avenue in April 1944. It was known as Mt. Carmel Chapel. Later the structure was enlarged and dedicated by Bishop Joseph Willging on April 17, 1949. Four months later, the Chapel of Our Lady of Assumption, as it became known, was given the status of a parish on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1958, the parish school was completed and the first class of 118 students was admitted. The convent was also completed that year. It was occupied by four Sisters of the Dominican Order of Great Bend, Kansas.

Eventually, the school building ceased to function as a school, and was remodeled to serve as the church building. On September 29, 1984, Bishop Arthur Tafoya dedicated Our Lady of Assumption at its new location on 900 E. Routt. The previous church building functions as a retreat for SEARCH.

This parish closed as of March 31, 2008.  For more information on the closing, click here.  All of the records for the church will be kept at St. Mary's Help of Christians.
