St.
Frances, Frances |
| The flood of 1911 destroyed the first church at Frances,
which was built in 1908. After the flood, services
were held in private residences until the new church was
finished in 1917. Mass is offered on the first Sunday
of each month, weathering permitting. |
| St.
John the Baptist, Pagosa Junction |
| The present church, built on a hillside above the now
abandoned railroad yards, is the third in a line of Catholic
churches built to serve the needs of the people in the Pagosa
Junction area. Two previous churches built near the San
Juan River were washed away in floods. The first church
was built in 1911. The present church was dedicated in
1927. Currently mass is celebrated on the second Sunday of
the month. |
| St.
James the Apostle, Trujillo |
| The first mission church was built in 1908 and was used
until 1916 when it was replaced by the current church. The
mission has its own cemetery, located south of the church.
Mass is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of each month. |
| Mission
Station, Chromo |
| Originally a one-room schoolhouse built in 1922, and used as
a school until 1955, this mission station has served for
religious services since 1923. Mass is offered on the
fifth Sunday of the month, with a potluck after mass. |
